A first-year visit schedule to discuss

Where a two-week check fits
Some babies need an additional early visit or weight check, including around two weeks. The timing depends on the discharge plan, growth, feeding and clinical concerns. Ask your pediatrician when your baby should return; a general well-child schedule does not replace that plan.
Prepare one list for each visit
- New skills or changes you have noticed.
- Feeding, sleep and diaper questions.
- Medicines, supplements and any reactions since the last visit.
- Vaccine and screening records that need review.
- Questions about the next appointment and how to reach the team.

Are checkups needed when my baby looks healthy?
Yes. Well-child care includes growth and development review, prevention and time for family questions, not only treatment of illness.
Does every baby need a two-week checkup?
Your pediatrician decides whether an additional early visit or weight check is needed. Follow the individual discharge and follow-up plan.
Can a sick visit replace a well-child visit?
They serve different purposes. Ask the office whether a separate preventive appointment is still needed after an illness visit.
What if we miss a checkup?
Contact the office to arrange care and review any missed screening or vaccination needs. Do not assume the next age-based visit will cover everything.
Should I wait for the nine-month visit to mention development concerns?
No. Raise concerns as soon as you notice them. Screening or assessment can be considered whenever a parent or clinician has a concern.
